Nestled in Colorado's magnificent high country, Evergreen is conveniently located just 15 miles west of Denver, making it easy for many residents to commute to their workplace in the metro Denver area.
Evergreen's historic district features a variety of charming shops, boutiques, and numerous restaurants showcasing a variety of cuisine. Among the town's primary attractions is Evergreen Lake, located in downtown Evergreen. This large lake is a popular year-round recreation area that offers un-motorized boating in the summer and ice skating in the winter. The Evergreen Lake House rents canoes, paddle boats, kayaks, sailboats, and fishing boats from early May to mid-September.
Other high recreation areas include Echo Lake, with 18 campsites, spots for RVs, and other sites for tents only. Golden Gate Canyon State Park also features numerous campgrounds, plus hiking, rafting, and wildlife viewing.

Evergreen is also surrounded by thousands of acres of land in the Denver Mountain Parks and Jefferson County Open Space park systems. Evergreen hosts a variety of community events throughout the year, including the Winter Festival at Evergreen Lake, which is held in February. Festival events include a ski and snowboard rail jam competition, an ice bike race, an ice fishing derby, ice skating, a beer garden, and nighttime fireworks.
